Although Batik is known to have originated in Indonesia , this form of Batik has its roots tracing back to East Africa .
The process practiced involved four stages, namely fragmentation, contemporary, realistic and toning.
This unique style of Batik painting, uses water based dyes on fabrics thus creating a fine art medium, which compares favourably to the intensity, control and depth of oils and acrylics, while at the same time retaining its unique dye based visual effects.
The procedure involves drawing and tracing unto fabric, painting with water-based dye and then by using wax (in stages) to seal the images, colours and shapes desired.
The process of fragmentation and toning brings out as realistic as possible the painting desired, thereby expressing the images and scenes created.
