Cattle Horn are mostly discarded following the slaughter of the cattle. However, at the Craft-House in St.Kitts, West Indies , these horns are now put to good use by using the creative minds and talents of our Artisians.

This process involves the boiling of the horns in water, the removing of the inner core and a quick process of drying in sunshine. The horn can be used in its original shape by forming desired objects eg Fishes, Birds, etc or by cutting, shaping, and making Necklaces, Earrings, Pendants etc.

However, the process of creating other items eg Brooches, Key-rings, Necklaces and Earrings etc involves the boiling of the horns in cooking oil, to a stage when it is flexible.

A process of flattening while using a press system or vice, followed by cutting, shaping, and sanding the desired shapes and objects is the next stage. Sanding and buffing then creates and brings out the true colour of the horn (no dyes or colours are used). The end result is a creative work of art compliments the ‘Cattle Horn'.
